Message: My dear (now deceased) wife, Rita and I met Agnes and John while we were shopping in E. Lansing. Ashley was a little girl then and Agnes was with Beverly who later became the childhood friend of our daughter, Rachelle . We became friends as we found they were also from Hong Kong. Later, Agnes and John moved close to us in Lansing and we became closer friends till they moved again to a different area in Lansing. Agnes was always cheerful and hospitable, and she and Rita became close friends. We invited the family to attend the Chinese Christian Fellowship. One night during the fellowship, Rita shared Christ with Agnes and she proclaimed delightfully to the rest of us in the nursery room, “Guess what! I’ve accepted Jesus Christ into my heart!” That was the night she became the child of God having an eternal life with Him. Now, she and Rita are enjoying in the heavenly in God’s presence . We shall see them again whenever what God’s plan for our lives and we know they would like us to continue to walk steadfast for God’s purpose on our earthly pilgrimage. “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:1-3) Jesus has a place for all of us in His Kingdom when we’ve accepted Him as our Lord and Savior and Agnes has just moved into her new eternal home.

Message: Is never easy to write/say the right thing in moments like this. Nevertheless, is one of the moments where we truly realized how someone affected our life. Unfortunately I was never close to any of my parents relatives. Living so far from each other, did not give us the chance to grow up around family. My mom tried her best by bringing us to see Aunt Agnes in USA, aunt Mei in Hong kong and other siblings and friends around Asia, and every time I met someone, I went back to my mom and said that the coolest, funniest aunt has always been aunt Agnes. With her, It was all about laugh and enjoying the holidays. Never felt judged (growing up in South America, makes you very different to others in terms on culture and habits) or misunderstood. Spending time with her and her family was a holiday I indeed enjoyed. If I got that from her, I can only imagine in huge impact she had in people closer to her. She for sure made many lives happier and enjoyable. To uncle John, Beverly, Ashely and their husbands and children: Aunt Agnes is finally resting in peace with no pain , no illness and no discomfort. And now, all of you can take a break with a deep breath , miss her deeply, and go on. Hope to meet you soon, Kitty.

Message: I was a friend to John and Agnes when I did my undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee. We used to go to their home for a monthly seminar. Agnes would invite me and a few others to stay for dinner after the seminars. I still remember her wonderful homemade food nowadays. She was always a caring and optimistic person. She impressed me with her positive and industrious attitude towards life.

Message: I remember, once Agnes told me she walked into a tailor shop at a moll in Knoxville, demonstrated her tailoring skills to the owner, and got hired for a part-time job. Someone making use of her talent and craftsmanship to make her life happier is a person who knows the significance of life---she enlightened me that way at that time. I am very glad to have been a friend of Agnes. She has in some ways brightened our school life once in a while.

Message: Chasing buses in the morning so we can make it to school in time, sewing me the cutest dresses making sure we were in fashion, helping me put on my makeup, going shopping and to parties, spending endless hours talking and giggling in bed ….. such loving memories of our teen and twenties years together. Peng also flew to Edmonton to attend my wedding and mailed me maternity outfits she tailored for me. What a dear and loving sister she was to me. I feel so blessed to have had spent some time with John and her earlier this year in Toronto. To John, Ashley, Beverly and the rest of her family, our deepest condolences for the loss of a loving wife, dear mother and grandmother. Words can’t express how much I missed my dear sister. She’ll be fondly remembered and lovingly stay in my heart. May she rest in peace.
